But they’re still a great place to get used to the one aspect that’s universal across FPS games: the aiming. Games like Overwatch 2 can help you to practice your hand-eye coordination through aiming at various targets.Īim trainers may not guarantee you’ll improve in your favorite titles, since each game requires map knowledge, resource management, character familiarization, and the other tools you need to truly succeed. For instance, you might want a high sensitivity while running around the map, but then you can switch to a low sensitivity when you’re scoped in for accurate aiming. This can be handy when you want to fine-tune your aim in a game that you otherwise want a higher sensitivity in. Some mice include a special button, sometimes called a DPI throttle or sniper button, that lets you quickly switch from the primary sensitivity to a secondary one. This is a key part of building muscle memory and reliable aim. By establishing that link, you can adjust in-game settings so that your aim will be consistent across different games. Essentially, you want a precise link between moving the mouse and moving the in-game reticle. While your settings will boil down to your personal preference, you might consider aiming for a setting that lets you turn 90, 180, or 360 degrees when you swipe across the width of your mousepad. You probably don’t want your mouse to spin your character around 1080 degrees when you move a half-inch, but you also don’t want to have to pick up your mouse and swipe across your mousepad over and over just to turn 360 degrees. With your mouse setup complete, it’s time to dial in the settings. Customize your gaming experience by tweaking the performance settings prior to use.
